Severe Storms to Near Record Heat
7 June 2022
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Today has been a very active day in terms of weather with multiple severe storms popping up along the eastern side of the state and even a tornado. As a result, temperatures were struggling to get into the 70s for much of the state due to the increase in showers and thunderstorms as well as cloud cover. The good news is that most of the storms have pushed out well east of the state outside of our region. Tonight should remain relatively calm with tomorrow morning expecting to see an increase in cloud coverage pushing in from the west. They were only a few chances for some showers during the overnight hours on Wednesday before it begins calming down and clearing up throughout the day on Thursday.
The risk for severe weather should begin to calm down as we go later into the night. Wind gusts look to remain pretty calm to over the next few days with it only picking up a little bit on Thursday afternoon. Even then it should only expect to get up to about 30 to 35 mph. This should not affect our travel to much or lead to too many delays.
Due to the sky is clearing up tonight, expect our low temperatures to be a little bit below average with more of those low 40s and upper 30s across the state. High temperatures tomorrow should warm up into the mid 70s, but the increase in cloud cover will prevent most places from getting into the 80s. If you want to see the 80s in the forecast, just wait a few more days as the extended forecast is showing the possibility of some 90s across the state as we make our way into the weekend.
