Stormy Weekend
3 June 2022
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Widespread showers and thunderstorms began popping up around much of Wyoming as we headed into the afternoon hours today. A few severe thunderstorms came into the forecast as well with a lot of the cloud cover sticking around as we head toward the overnight. Most of the shower activity by then is expected to dissipate leaving us with relatively clear skies by early tomorrow morning. The chances for rain do come back by tomorrow afternoon, but nothing significant is expected in terms of widespread severe storms. Sunday doesn’t look to be the best day either as heavy clouds and scattered showers are expected throughout the day. Severe weather chances remain high throughout the day today with a marginal chance for severe weather and even a slight chance in the far south east.
This did lead to very strong wind gusts and even some small hail. The pattern of strong winds associated with thunderstorms remains the case heading toward the weekend with strong gusts popping up along side. This is not enough to cause any significant travel in packs or delays, but it is some thing we want to keep our eye on.
In the meantime, this increase in showers and clouds does mean that temperatures will remain on the warm side going into the evening hours with even some lower 50s. The warming trend is expected to continue tomorrow with upper 70s and lower 80s becoming more common place throughout the state. The extended forecast is showing some chances for more thunderstorms throughout the next few days, but temperatures look to remain pretty stable over the next 10 days.
