Warmer Temperatures and Severe Storms
2 June 2022
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Thanks to high pressure, nice conditions were seen across the state today with temperatures getting closer to the more seasonable range, but we did see a little bit more cloud cover and even shower chances along the northern side of the state. Most of the rain will dissipate going into the overnight hours, but we will wake up to a lot more cloud cover and even some stronger gusts as a new stationary front begins to push its way into the region. This will result in more thunderstorm chances along the southeastern and northern side of the state. More thunderstorms come into the forecast going into our afternoon on Saturday, but there is not as big of a chance for some severe thunderstorms as what we can expect tomorrow. The storm prediction center shows a marginal risk for the eastern and northern regions of the state and the chance for some heavy rain, gusty winds, as well as some small hail.
While the chances remain low, it is best to always be prepared for the worst. During the afternoon storms, wind gusts will begin picking up around the effected regions getting up to over 30 mph in some instances. This is not likely to cause any significant travel in packs or delays, but we will keep you updated as the situation unfolds. The same story regarding the wind will be the case for tomorrow too.
Overnight tonight, thanks to the increase in cloud cover, we should expect temperatures to be more around the mid and upper 40s for the lows. Tomorrow, expect temperatures to continue warming getting into the mid and upper 70s across much of the state. Precipitation chances remain steady for much of the extended forecast, but no drastic shifts in temperatures are expected.
