CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Cheyenne Post 6 Sixers are off to a stellar (19-1) start to the season. The Capital City Crew Crew lone loss came against the Laramie Rangers in Game 1 of a conference doubleheader.

Manager Ty Lain said he like he trajectory his squad his squad on.

“I think we’re off to a good start, man. You know you’re not gonna win every game in baseball. That’s just not gonna happen,” said Lain. “I think we’re doing a lot of the little things [that] we need to to keep getting better. Our guys are working hard at practice. We’re covering a lot of the minor details and putting our focus there as far as being able to handle bunt defenses and take the right approach into certain at bats, and [we’re] just be productive pitch by pitch throughout the game.”

After spending the early part of the seasons playing mostly Wyoming teams, the Sixers now head out on the road. This June, Cheyenne will participate in tournaments in South Dakota, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. The team will play just one game at Powers Field this month.

“[We’ll] play cards, and we’ll play putt-putt and we’ll go out to eat at some restaurants together and we’ll go to the College World Series.” said Lain. “Wherever we’re at, we’re gonna try to do something that is entertaining and fun and take their mind off the day to day grind.”

Lain said June will be a test to see how the Sixers handle playing good competition and playing several days in a row. Cheyenne started off its Rapid City Tournament with a 9-6 win over Mitchell Post 18 on Thursday.
