Clouds and Rain with a Warmup
31 May 2022
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Scattered showers and heavy cloud cover is the main story for today across the Cowboys State. There were a few moderate and even some high travel impacts in the northwest due to some strong wind gusts associated with the storms, but most of those cleared up as we headed into the late evening hours. Most of the shower activity began dissipating during the afternoon, while some much more well developed showers began forming in Northern Colorado and pushed into the southeastern region of the state. This is expected to last into the overnight hours for much of Cheyenne and the Nebraska Panhandle until tomorrow morning. After that, a few isolated showers are expected around the Worland and Buffalo region during the afternoon tomorrow.
For the next few days, expect a little bit of cloud cover throughout the state with winds staying relatively calm. As a matter fact, wind gusts are not expected to get over 20 mph for the next 48 hours. That should help ease any kind of travel delays or impacts throughout many of the major interstates and roadways. Thanks to the cloud cover clearing as we head into the overnight hours, expect temperatures to drop down into the 30s with a few places reaching below the freezing point.
On top of it all, temperatures will begin to warm back up to more seasonal range as we head into the middle of the week. Tomorrow, expect a mix of upper 50s and lower 60s across many of the cities. The extended forecast is showing a general warming pattern is a nickel waiting till the weekend with the chance for some isolated showers coming back around that same time. Some areas can certainly expect some heavier shower activity with the occasional thunderstorm as well heading into the weekend.
