Weather-Filled Holiday Weekend
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Rain showers state-wide and thunderstorms in northeast Wyoming were the predominant weather features Saturday. Seven total high wind reports came from Campbell and Crook, WY. Pea to marble size hail was also reported. Rain showers will continue into the evening hours and taper off as we cool from the most recent warm spell. Low temperatures tonight will be relatively warm in the 50s in the southeast while the 40s and 30s are to the north and west. Tomorrows high temperatures will start to decline into the 70s in the Nebraska panhandle, 60s in eastern Wyoming, lower 50s to 60s in central, and 40s at the western border.
But the weather will not cease for too long as showers and thunderstorms are forecasted for Sunday originating in southeast Wyoming and making their way across the state in the morning and afternoon hours. A mix of rain and snow are possible in western Wyoming where rain showers and thunderstorms are forecasted in eastern Wyoming with warmer temperatures. Late Sunday afternoon will incur bands of showers and storms in eastern Wyoming. As for your Memorial Day, the potential for severe thunderstorms will be centered over the Nebraska panhandle Monday morning as a low pressure system comes from northern Colorado and moves northeast. It would be wise to have a back-up plans for your holiday outdoor activities as rain and storms will be in abundance Monday morning and afternoon.
Light breezy winds will pick-up in southeast Wyoming Sunday afternoon to around 30mph. They will decrease overnight and return to eastern Wyoming Monday afternoon if the precipitation wasn’t enough to put a damper on any holiday plans. The work week will start off with storms and showers trailing the exiting low pressure system Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Wednesday it will start to warm into the end of the week.
