CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - After surrendering an 8-4 lead during its season opener, the Gem City Bison rebounded against the Casper Horseheads on Wednesday. The Bison picked up its first win in franchise history 9-6 in the Oil City.

Hits were hard to come by for the ballplayers clad in brown and gold, but that didn’t stop them from scratching and clawing for every run they pushed across home plate. The fifth inning was Gem City’s big inning when it was able to score five runs, but the lead was gone in the bottom of the fifth.

Casper pushed across three runs of its own to tie the game at 5-5 behind RBI singles from Anthony Santellanes and Kenny Garcia. Gem City was ready to bounce back, as it scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning, and Luke Banister drove home a run with an RBI double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Bison some extra cushion.

On Thursday, the two teams will play at Mike Lansing Field in Casper to wrap up the three-game series.
