Cheyenne Central names Hall of Famer Jim Shaffer next boys basketball head coach

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (CHEYENNE CENTRAL RELEASE) - Cheyenne Central would like to welcome Jim Shaffer as its next head men’s basketball coach.  Coach Shaffer has a wealth of coaching experience with stops as a graduate assistant at the University of Wyoming and an assistant at the University of Northern Colorado.  He spent 10 years in Pagosa Springs as the head basketball coach from 2001-2010, then went on to become the head coach at Cheyenne South from 2010-2018, spent 1 year (2018-2019) as an assistant a Central before taking over the program at Laramie High School for the past 3 years.

Coach Shaffer is a member of the Wyoming Coaches Association Hall of Fame, being inducted in 2018.  He was named the 4A East Conference Coach of the Year in 2016 and was the Colorado High School Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2007.
