Prep Athlete of the Week: Jordan Stoddard
YODER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Being a quadruple event winner is wildly impressive, and that’s what Wyoming News Now Prep Athlete of the Week and Southeast High School Track & Field senior Jordan Stoddard did in the 1A East Regional in Newcastle, Wyo.
She joined Big Piney’s Colby Jenks as the lone student-athletes to win four regional titles over the weekend.
“There was plenty of nerves for sure,” said Stoddard. “I’ve been dealing with a few injuries this season and so [I] was kinda nervous like actually finally trying to push myself to PR.”
The Southeast senior La Grange, Wyo. native did set a new personal record in the Long Jump with an 18′ 5″ jump and overall she took first place in the 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, High Jump, and Long Jump.
Jordan has also won seven total state championships in both indoor and outdoor track (2019 indoor High Jump, 2019 outdoor High Jump, 2020 Indoor 400 Meter, 2021 indoor High Jump, 2021 outdoor High Jump, 2021 outdoor Long Jump, 2022 indoor Long Jump) throughout her career.
Jordan holds the 1A Long Jump state record (19′ 04.25″) and now she looks ahead to the 1A Track & Field State Championships, which take place May 19-21 in Casper, Wyo.
“After Regionals, I’m just a lot more confident that [the state track & field meet is] going to go better than I thought it would, which honestly helps my stress levels out quite a bit,” said Stoddard. “So I’m pretty excited about that.”
Jordan was also a two-time all-stater (2020, 2021) for the Lady Cyclones Volleyball team and after high school, she will attend South Dakota State University to compete in Long Jump and High Jump for the Jackrabbits.
Congratulations to Jordan Stoddard, Wyoming News Now Prep Athlete of the Week.
