CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Unlicensed kids and adults alike will soon have a chance to catch some fish. June 4 marks free fishing day in the state of Wyoming.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will host an event for children in the area for the day.

The event will be held on the Maury Brown Ranch on June 4, and is free to attend.

Lunch and transportation is provided by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.

Each participant gets a free fishing pole, tackle box , and tackle, and will also receive fishing tips from coaches at the event. This gives younger kids the opportunity to pick up more knowledge about fishing.

“It’s fun opportunity for kids to sign up and travel out to a reservoir about 50 miles away from Cheyenne to experience everything from catching a fish, to cleaning it, to cooking it, and eating it,” says Sara DiRienzo, the Public Information Officer for the Game and Fish Department.

Registration for the event closes on May 20.
