Cool Down with Rain
12 May 2022
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - There were lots of partial closures along the southern side of the state due to very strong wind gusts and a number of moderate delays earlier in the day. This is due to a low pressure system right over the Dakotas which is causing lots of severe weather and tornado warnings in the Midwestern states. Locally we’re just getting a little bit more in terms of shower activity and a couple of strikes of lightning throughout the region as we head into tonight. The good news is high-pressure is coming back into the region and most of those isolated showers will just stay in the north western corner with a little bit of chance for sprinkles tomorrow afternoon.
Cloud cover remains variable as we head into the weekend then we start to see another stationary front come back in from the south late on Saturday. Wind gusts should be calming down a little bit as we head into the overnight hours but still staying above 30 mph for some areas. They pick up once more as we had into Friday afternoon with gusts well over 40 mph. Saturday is going to be a little bit calmer for the winds but still pretty strong allowed interstate 80.
Overnight tonight, temperature should be right around where they should be for this time of year all tomorrow’s highs should begin warming up a little bit to more seasonal temperatures now that the frontal system has passed. Windy conditions over the next few days are to be expected even heading into the weekend, but overall temperature should be warming back up into the 70s and 80s. For the northern cities they should expect the slight chance for some shower activity going into tomorrow afternoon but nothing too significant in terms of rainfall amounts.
