CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Cheyenne East and #3 Cheyenne Central met for the final time in 2022 on Wednesday. Central has clinched the East Region’s #3 seed in next week’s state tournament. East did not qualify for states.

The conference match-up was a “game of ties”. Cheyenne Central took a 2-1 lead in the third inning off a 2-RBI single by Kaitlyn Ackerman but it would be the last time the Tribe was in front.

Central tied the game on three separate occasions after the Lady T-Birds took the lead. The final time was via 6th inning solo home runs from Cameron Moyte and Taylor Gebhart to make it 6-6.

However, Trista Stehwein tripled in the bottom of the 6th inning and scored on a passed ball to take a 7-6 lead into the top of the 7th inning. East Pitcher Lillian Vallejo then pitched a 1-2-3 inning to give the Lady T-Birds the victory.

Cheyenne Central won the non-conference game 20-2 and is next in action at the state tournament. Cheyenne East wraps up the season on Thursday against Laramie.
