Prep Athlete of the Week: Tayler Miller

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Cheyenne East Girls Soccer team has been on quite a run. The Lady T-Birds finished the regular season on a four-game winning streak and at the center of it all has been Wyoming News Now Prep Athlete of the Week Tayler Miller.

“I try to coach some of the players as best as I can, especially the younger players since..they don’t know as much as the older kids do,” said Tayler. “I try to be vocal every single practice and I think the past couple weeks, maybe three weeks, I have been more vocal towards them.”

Tayler said that communication, as well as friendship building, has turned East’s season around. The Lady T-Birds had just two wins on April 28th, and now they enter the 4A Girls West Regional with six wins and as a four-seed.

“Tayler is a hard worker and one of the things about soccer is you can’t call timeouts,” explained East Girls Soccer Head Coach Rebecca Valdez. “So we rely on our leaders on the field to relay messages and help coach on the field for us and Tayler stepped into that position last year and this year for us...with the wind you can’t hear us anyway so we need our players to talk on the field and she’s stepped into that role nicely this year.”

Tayler and Lady T-Birds take on Cheyenne Central on Thursday at 5 p.m. The winner goes to states, and the loser’s season ends.
