CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - In the regular-season finale for Kelly Walsh and Natrona County softball, hardware was on the line. It was the Diamond Ball Classic between the two rivals on Tuesday.

The Fillies were the home team, and they were plenty pumped up for the marquee matchup. The Natrona County dugout was loud throughout the first game of the doubleheader, but Kelly Walsh made most of their noise with the bats.

The Trojans got on the scoreboard first with a Brooke Lijewski RBI single in the top of the first inning, and they briefly surrendered the lead on a 2-RBI double by Julie Dysart in the bottom of the inning. From then on, it was all green and white.

Kelly Walsh retook a 4-2 lead in the top of the second inning and never surrendered its advantage. They used a seven-run top of the third inning, which featured a grand slam from Sophia Wood, to propel the lead even further and won the game 16-6.

In addition to her long ball, Wood pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts and only allowed six hits. Lijewski finished the day 4/5 at the plate with two RBIs, and Olivia Smith added some pop for the Trojans with three hits and two RBIs.

Dysart and Kendra Meyer each finished with two hits and two RBIs for the Fillies.

Kelly Walsh won game two of the doubleheader 10-7.
