Rainy Weekend to Warm Week
9 May 2022
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - We had very strong winds around the region resulting in a number of moderate travel impacts as well as partial closures along the interstates and wind prone regions. The majority of shower activity across the country stayed in the north western corner of the United States. We saw a little bit more in terms of some thunderstorm activity popping up headed into the evening time, but a lot of that is expected to dissipate as we head into the overnight. High pressure is coming back into the region resulting in a nice warming trend over the next few days. That’s when we start to have a low pressure system come back into our region along side the stationary front.
This will begin upping our rain chances more so toward the end of the week starting Wednesday evening. Wind gusts should be calming down as we head into tomorrow morning before picking up again slightly tomorrow afternoon. After that, it remains relatively calm throughout the day on Wednesday before picking up once again for the southern regions during the late afternoon hours.
Overnight tonight, temperatures will be a little bit cooler than what we normally see this time of year with lows at or below the freezing point. High temperatures around the state tomorrow looks to be warming up into the mid to upper 60s and even a few lower 70s in the southeastern corner. Temperatures will continue this warming trend until Thursday where they drop off just a little bit with the chance for some precipitation. The same goes for the rest the viewing area with a chance for a thunderstorm popping up on Thursday as well, but not enough to cause a massive drop in temperatures.
