Kelly Walsh’s Anna Hoyt chooses to become a University of Wyoming cheerleader
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The end of the school year is looming, which means college decisions are looming for high school seniors. Kelly Walsh’s Anna Hoyt, a senior, cleared up her future on Tuesday afternoon.
Hoyt signed a letter of intent to join the University of Wyoming cheerleading program next year.
“[I] just couldn’t get enough [cheerleading] in high school I guess,” said Hoyt with a laugh during her signing day ceremony.
Hoyt was a member of the Trojan squad that took home a state title at State Spirit in the all-girl cheer category. She joined the Kelly Walsh cheerleading team in December, so she said she’s only been cheering for about five months or so. She credited her mother with bringing up the idea of cheering in college.
“I was like, ‘Ya know what? Wyoming’s close to home. I might as well try out.’ So I went to the tryout, and there [were] a lot of girls there. There was a lot of talent, and yeah I made the team,” said Hoyt with a smile. “It was kind of a brutal tryout.”
She said she plans to study accounting in Laramie. Congratulations to Anna Hoyt and her family.
