CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Today started off dull and dreary with lots of snow in the southeastern corner of the state. While this may not be the best way to start off our week, the system moved out by the afternoon hours. Unfortunately, it looks like another system is right behind it and pushing in from the west during the day tomorrow. As a result, we are going to start to see cloud cover increasing during the morning hours with shower chances around lunchtime for the central and northern parts of the state. The shower activity will begin moving to the south eastern corner of the state during the later parts of the afternoon and early evening. Before a lot of this happens, we are going to see temperatures warm up into more seasonable levels. Although, those temperatures last only for the day as the occluded front moving through will drop off temperature slightly for Wednesday. After Wednesday, conditions begin clearing up and temperatures begin warming up to above average conditions with lots of 70s in the forecast.
Another thing we worry about when these systems move through is how strong the wind gusts are going to be. This time around it looks like most of the winds will be sticking to the far eastern side of the state and not really exceeding 35 mph. That means that the majority of travel impacts around the state will just be due to slick conditions or even the chance for some fog. The wind looks to really pick up in the forecast after the system pushes through going into Thursday and Friday.
Overnight tonight, expect a little bit of that cloud cover to begin building in the central parts of the state as well as the chance for some dense fog around the mountainous regions. Temperatures will stay on the warm side for the northern regions with upper 30s and low 40s while the south eastern side will see temperatures in the low 30s and upper 20s. Tomorrow, the morning will start off on the foggy side and the afternoon will start to see showers increasing with some stronger winds out to the east. The extended forecast is showing still very nice conditions for Thursday Friday and Saturday before another system comes through on Sunday.
