CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - We had very strong winds throughout much of the state resulting in travel impacts showing a lot more delays and even partial closures around the Elk Mountain region today due to very strong wind gusts. That means this frontal system is moving out and is now bringing lots of severe weather out into Nebraska as well as Kansas. Locally, we just saw a little bit more shower activity around the central and northern regions with more of those showers pushing to the south east as we go to the late evening and overnight hours. The good news is by tomorrow morning most of that shower activity should’ve already pushed out of the region and strong winds coming in from the northwest to help clear out any remaining clouds.

By Saturday evening, more those clouds begin coming in from the west, and then even more so during the day on Sunday. Unfortunately, it looks like even more precipitation is starting to come up from the southwest and bring us increasing rain and snow chances going into Monday. Those wind gusts will stay strong but push out the far eastern side of the state by tomorrow morning. By Saturday evening it should calm down before picking up ever so slightly going into Sunday as more of the showers begin to brew up.

Overnight tonight, temperatures are going to be right around the freezing point for much of the region thanks in part to the cold front. Tomorrow, will be a little bit warmer than what we saw today; actually right around the average for what we normally see this time of year. The extended forecast is showing a nice day on Saturday with nice conditions sticking around till Sunday before a lot more activity comes into the forecast to start off our next week. The rest of state is looking at a similar pattern with the southern regions expecting some strong wind gusts going into the weekend.
