CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - On Sunday May 1, the Casper College Choir will be partnering with their festival orchestra to showcase the works of composer Ralph Vaughn Williams. The performance will have six movements that tell a story in both English and Latin.

“So the story is about war and how it impacts our society, so the first few chapters are praying for peace, and then you get into the chapters about war, and then you have the end result of the war and what did we gain from it,” said Ashley Thompson who will be graduating this semester.

Prior to the performance choir director Dr. Zachary Vreeman will be holding a lecture that is open to the public. It will include information on the composer and his pieces that are being played in the concert.

Dr. Vreeman also said, “It’s a very exciting program. We’re going to be playing and singing some of Vaughn Williams most treasured pieces of music. They’re really, really wonderful, and his music is known for being so tuneful and have a lot of colorful sound.”

The concert will begin at 3:00pm Sunday May 1, with the lecture starting at 2:00 right before the show. The event is free to attend and open for the public to enjoy.
