CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - On April 28 around 2:45 PM, a Laramie County School District 1 bus collided with a Ford Explorer on Logan Avenue.

The collision occurred when the driver of the Ford Explorer ran a red light and hit the bus.

Both drivers had minor injuries, and were taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Three students and a transportation assistant were also on the bus, but did not sustain injuries.

The bus had to be towed from the scene.

With multiple school bus accidents occurring in recent memory, the school district has focused on adding new bus safety measurements.

“Our new buses that we do get in our transportation department will be equipped with seat belts. We don’t have all of our buses equipped right now, but we’re working toward that,” said Jim Fraley, the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for LCSD1.

The Cheyenne Police Department reminds you to drive safely and to remain focused on the road at all times.
