Lander Valley girls, boys soccer score wins easily over Pinedale
LANDER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Lander Valley High School currently boasts two of the top soccer teams in Wyoming at 3A. Both squads were in action against Pinedale on Tuesday.
The girls met little resistance against the visitors. They were able to knock six goals into the back of the net in the first half, and they cruised to a 10-0 victory.
Emma Goetz, a senior striker for the Tigers, was one of Tuesday’s goal scorers, and she said this team can still get better.
“I would say like our biggest competition is ourselves,” said Goetz after the win. “Like it just depends upon how we play and how we show up. I would say we’re working on passing and moving more, which is like our biggest focus and not dribbling as much, which I think is super important and as long as we do that I think we’re unbeatable.”
In the boys game, the goals didn’t come as rapidly for Lander Valley, but they still put on a strong performance. They notched three first half goals behind some excellent play from senior Kellon Donahue, who notched the third goal of the match just before the end of the half.
The Tigers matched that scoring output in the second half and finished off the win 6-0. Both Lander Valley squads will host Lyman on Saturday.
