CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - A psychiatrist at Wyoming Behavioral Institute has published a new book in her Modern Anxiety Modern Woman series. In 2020, Dr. Lida Prypchan invited young Australian women to share their thoughts on anxiety, and how they use creativity to cope. This was important to Dr. Prypchan.

“To have a place to show what great writers they are and how to use art to deal with their anxiety,” said Dr. Prypchan, a child’s psychiatrist.

The idea received an overwhelming amount of responses. Eventually, it was narrowed down to 13 chapters of young women’s stories and Dr. Prypchan wrote the introduction.

She thought these women between the ages of 15-25 would write about body image and social media, but it was barely mentioned.

Instead, most women wrote about their concerns for the future. Dr. Prypchan says being a mentor and trying to understand our youth can help them succeed. This is important to help our younger generation.

“People in general know what they think and what they are going through will be a source of knowledge to guide them and understand them,” said Dr. Prypchan.

Dr. Prypchan hopes to write her next addition to the series about young women in Wyoming.
