CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - One graduating class found a way to be remembered forever on their campus.
The seniors at South High School settled on leaving a gift for the campus as they leave, and now have a Cheyenne Boot to forever remind students of the class of 2022.
“The class of ‘22, their class is on the strap, and then their class motto that they decided on is on the strap of the boot too, so that it truly represents their class but is a long-term gift to South High School,” said Kate Tietjen, the administrative assistant to athletics at South.
Along with help from senior sponsors and their art teacher Mr. Blakely, the seniors began to design the boot to fit the school district as a whole.
Mascots from the elementary schools in the south triad can be seen on the statue, with words on the back that fit their herd values.
The boot will not only represent the school to incoming students, but will also remind this class of the good times they had along the way.
“It helps us move on from like the High School aspect, knowing that we contributed to our school and left a memorable piece of our past back at that school,” said Ryan Loetscher, a senior at South High.
The boot can be seen in front of the entrance at South High School.
