CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Cheyenne Sixers couldn’t have asked for a better start to their year.

Of course their 3-0 record will stand out, but it’s the changes they had to deal with that highlight their performance.

“I was just laying in bed waiting because we had some time before we had to be at the tipi. Just got a text like ‘we’re going to Laramie possibly’. So, I jumped up, got all my stuff, got in the shower, and headed to the facility,” said Sixers player Bailey Applegarth.

Their home opener had been moved due to weather and field conditions, meaning they faced an unexpected travel to Laramie for the season opener.

That new road game wound up being an 11-3 victory for the sixers, but that was just the start. They picked up a 25-0 win over rock springs on Sunday, followed by an 11-1 victory over Laramie again a few hours later.

They tallied 47 runs across those first three contests.

That hot start is a big focus for the team, defeating the opening day jitters that played some effect last year.

“Feel pretty good. Didn’t win the first one last year, won the first one this year, that’s what we wanted. Just keep going, see how far we can get.,” said Sixers player Dominic Lopez.

The sixers will get a chance to continue the streak this weekend, as they’re currently set to play in Casper.
