CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Today didn’t warm up as much as we had originally predicted, so why did that happen? Well, the showers came in earlier across the northern regions of the state and the overcast skies prevented the sun from doing its job. As a result, temperatures didn’t get all that warm. While most of the rain and snow showers stuck towards the southern half of the state, it will become more widespread tomorrow. It’ll start out as rain coming in from the southwest and turn into snow in the high elevations during the day and low elevations as we go into the evening time. Nothing in terms of severe weather is projected, but there can be isolated bursts of heavy rainfall and heavy snowfall.

Luckily, the winds don’t seem to be too bad in the forecast. Gusts themselves will pick up during the late afternoon and early evening from the south as these showers are at their peak. Afterwards, they will calm down as we go into the overnight hours. The winds I’m focusing on are the ones for Sunday. Strong gusts over 60 MPH are going to be coming from the west on your Easter morning and will stay strong throughout the day. At least by then, most of the showers are expected to be done for.

Overnight tonight, temperatures will drop down once again into the teens and 20s with overcast skies sticking around. Most of the shower activity is staying in the southeast, but that should dissipate the later into the night we go. Tomorrow, heavy cloud cover is expected to start off our day with calm winds. Temperatures should warm up into the 40s and 50s as long as the showers don’t come in sooner to prevent them from rising. Afternoon and evening plans should be given extra time to get to and from as breezy conditions, low visibility and rain and snow showers are expected with a few being heavy. Beyond tomorrow and Easter, highs will warm up across the state into more spring conditions with 60s and 70s starting up early next week.
