LARAMIE, Wyo. (UW RELEASE) - University of Wyoming’s Melissa Mirafuentes added to her crowded awards cabinet Thursday. The junior was named Mountain West Conference Diver of the Year after her stellar third season in the brown and gold.

Mirafuentes’ season concluded with a pair of All-American honors at the NCAA swimming & diving championships. She reeled in the recognition by way of qualifying for the consolation finals in both 3-meter and platform en route to a pair of 15th-place finishes.

That performance occurred on the heels of a Zone E Diving Championships that warranted Mirafuentes’ entry into the NCAA championships. She finished third in platform and eighth and 15th, respectively, in 3-meter and platform.

Mirafuentes’ postseason run began with a stout showing at the Mountain West Conference championships. She won the platform competition and finished second in 3-meter.

Mirafuentes also won the consolation finals of 1-meter. In her career, Mirafuentes has four All-American honors, two MWC Diver of the Meet awards, and three MWC titles in platform.
