CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Today was the last day of strong winds for much of the state for the next few days. But those winds were doing one big thing, keeping cool air in the region after the cold front passed. Once they die down, temperatures will begin rapidly warming up as we head into the weekend. The good news is that the clouds pushed all the cloud cover and moisture out of the state for a little bit, resulting in a nice Friday and Saturday. Don’t get used to it though as another cold front is expected to push through late on Saturday. This frontal system will be dropping temperatures about 20-30 degrees in terms of high temperatures, it’ll bring an increase in rain and shower activity, and some more wind to top it all off.

Wind gusts today were strong, but not enough to prompt new high wind warnings. It did bring some air quality warnings to northern Colorado due to blowing dust and some fire weather warnings from dry conditions and strong gusts. They will be calming down over the next few days and only start to pick up from the west when the next cold front moves through. When this happens, gusts will pick up to over 30 MPH and just stick to the far northern and southern regions of the state. It’s enough to classify it as breezy, but not the windy conditions we saw this week.

Overnight tonight, expect temperatures to be right around the seasonable range with mid to upper 20s and some lower 30s across the area. Skies will stay clear and the winds will be calming down into the single digits. Tomorrow, winds will be almost non-existent and clouds will be rare, but warm temperatures are making a quick comeback as high temperatures will jump into the mid 60s and low 70s for much of the state. Enjoy it while you can as these nice conditions will only last for a little bit before the next cold front comes through late on Saturday.
