CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Temperatures were a bit cooler today thanks to a cold front moving through during the early morning hours. Most of the showers, both rain and snow, we’re very short-lived due to very strong wind gusts getting near hurricane strength levels. Clouds came in and out throughout the day bringing a couple of isolated showers, most of which were staying in the mountainous regions of the state. There is a slight chance for heavier snow showers early tomorrow morning in the north eastern corner of the state near the Newcastle and Sundance regions. Other than that partly cloudy skies are expected with wind gusts still staying strong getting up to 50 and 60 mph.

Those winds will begin calming down slightly as we go into the late overnight hours then pick up again on Thursday getting to about 45 to 50 mph once again. The biggest difference is that the wind speeds are going to be slowly moving out to the east over the next couple of days and not encompassing the state like we saw today. The winds will help to clear out any leftover clouds and moisture from behind the frontal system. Once the wind stop on late Thursday night, temperatures will begin rapidly warming up as we had into our Friday and weekend with 60s and 70s back in the forecast with mostly clear skies.

Overnight tonight, expect temperatures to be below freezing and staying around the mid 20s and lower 30s. This is actually normal for this time of year as temperatures lately have certainly been on the warmer end of the spectrum. Expect some partly cloudy skies and a slight chance of an isolated snow shower. You certainly want to bundle up tonight as wind chill values will be dipping down into the teens and even single digits given the strong gusts. Tomorrow, expect partly cloudy skies with high temperatures being in the low 40s to upper 40s throughout the entire state. As mentioned before, most of the heavy snowfall will remain in the north eastern corner. Once we get past the cooler temperatures and strong wind gusts, the end of the week will clear up and temperatures will warm up on top of it. All looks good until we go into early next week we are a much stronger cold front will be dropping off our temperatures and bringing us higher chances for snowfall.
