CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Division I commitment on Wednesday, shutout on Saturday: that’s what Cheyenne Central Boys Soccer Goalkeeper Jackson Cook did last week.

On Wednesday, he announced on social media that he would continue his commitment to the University of Central Arkansas. The Bears play in the Atlantic Sun (ASUN) conference.

“I think [this commitment] brought a lot of confidence into me coming into my senior season,” said Jackson Cook. “I don’t have to worry about making a choice anymore so it was really really big, but at the same time it’s like, there’s kind of pressure that was lifted off of my back, but I also know that I still have to be able to perform.”

Jackson said he will be a recruited walk-on as a freshman but he said he hopes to work towards a scholarship.

Fast-forward to Saturday and the Central senior and his team posted a clean sheet (shutout) for the third time in four total games this season.

The Indians defeated Thunder Basin 1-0 in Gillette and it was the first time that Central beat the Bolts Boys Soccer team since TB opened in 2017-2018.

“Just being able to come into that game, with the confidence that we had and that we’re going to keep like [continue having] these next games is huge because I think just coming in there and being ready for that game was big and I think that’s why we won,” said Cook.

In addition to playing for Cheyenne Central, Jackson has also played for Wyoming’s Olympic Development Program (ODP), Cheyenne Select, and Wyoming 307 Select.

Congratulations to Jackson Cook, Wyoming News Now Prep Athlete of the Week.
