CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Conditions were much better around the state today compared to what we saw yesterday if not a little bit cooler, but that is to be expected after a strong cold front. There were a few isolated snow showers in the south eastern corner of the state and out in the Nebraska panhandle, but those move through by the afternoon and cleared up the skies. Tomorrow, expect mostly clear skies around the state during the first half of the day before the next cold front pushes through. This one is not expected to be as strong as the one we got on Tuesday as it is relatively week in comparison and coming in from the west. Expect clouds to begin moving in during the afternoon hours with isolated rain and snow showers continually increasing throughout the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will increase quickly thanks to westerly winds bringing warm air in before the front, but it won’t last very long. Precipitation will begin falling is rain and turn to snow once the colder air moves in. The most amount of snowfall is projected to be in the central regions of the state around the Casper and Buffalo region. The largest estimates are going up to about 2 1/2 inches but less is expected considering highs will be around the 50s.

Winds today were the strongest in the south east causing a few moderate delays on the highways as gusts got up to 40 and 50 mph this will be calming down starting in the overnight hours and remaining calm until the front moves in before then, gusts will be pushing in from the west resulting in a quick little warm-up before the next system pushes through. When this happens, expects gusts to get up to about 30 mph which is nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year. They look to be remaining calm over the next few days before picking up on Sunday. Most of the expected travel delays will come from the icy road conditions and low visibility during snowfall.

Overnight tonight expect mostly clear skies with temperatures dropping once again into the 20s across the entire state. Winds will be calming down meaning much more bearable wind-chill values tonight compared to last night. Tomorrow, the morning will start off nice with mostly clear skies and temperature is warming up into the 50s and 60s before the front pushes through. When it does move through, expect rain showers turning into snow showers as temperatures drop off once again. Unfortunately, this consistent roller coaster trend in our temperatures is expected to continue over the next week with the weekend being warm before dropping off again early next week. It’s just that time of year where spring is trying to show up but winter is not finished just yet.
