A Chilly Start
21 March 2022
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - While the weekend started off nice and warm, a cold front came through last night bringing a little bit of snow to the region and drastically dropping off our temperatures. The good news is the temperatures were still bearable if not just on the chilly side. The temperatures are expected to remain about the same tomorrow but with some more isolated rain and snow showers starting in the afternoon. Afterwards, strong winds from the north push out all of the cloud cover and moisture leaving us with nice clear skies for the rest of the week. When that happens, temperatures will warm up drastically going into more spring like conditions.
Strong wind gusts coming in from the north brought down our wind-chill values throughout the day and will continue overnight getting down into the teens. Just be sure to bundle up if you have any plans both tonight and tomorrow as the winds will be sticking around. The strongest gusts should get up to about 35 to 40 mph and stick to the far eastern side of the state. Some partial road closures are possible, but most of the wind prone areas in the mountainous regions don’t seem to have strong gusts on the models. Towards the end of the week, The winds will be calming down and temperatures will warm up even faster.
Overnight tonight, expect mostly clear skies and temperatures to be at seasonal levels. Tomorrow, temperatures will stay right around the levels they were at today with those isolated rain and snow chances going into the afternoon hours. The best part about the forecast will be this weekend where a number of areas will reach into the 70 degree mark.
