CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Snow totals came out from the storm on Tuesday with both Cheyenne and Lander hitting the 3 inch mark while places like Casper and Riverton getting under and inch. Precipitable water from the snow was plentiful as we are above average for the year in terms of rain amounts, which should certainly help our drought situation. Today warmed up quickly compared to yesterday thanks to lots of sun and southwesterly winds. That will change as we head into the overnight hours and tomorrow morning. A weak cold front will move through increasing our cloud cover and bring us some scattered snow showers. Most of the accumulation is going to be sticking towards the southern half of the state with not much more than and inch of snowfall. Essentially, it’ll just makeup for the snow that melted today. Afterwards, the snow showers will dissipate and the clouds will move out allowing us to warm up going into the second half of the week.

Winds will be shifting as well coming from the north after the passage of the front. Gusts will be picking up for the eastern side of the state in the morning hours, so the blowing snow will be something to be cautious of. By Friday, winds will be shifting back and coming from the west where a lot of the warm air from the Jetstream is. That’ll allow for a lot of the clouds to move out and the sun to warm us up as we head towards the weekend.

Overnight tonight, isolated snow showers are possible for the northern regions of the state as clouds begin building for much of Wyoming. Temperatures will be dropping down below average with a number of teens, single digits, and even negatives out to the far west. Tomorrow, isolated snow showers will be all around the state with the heaviest in the southern half by the late morning going into the early afternoon. As a result, temperatures will be staying on the lower end with lots of cities staying below the freezing point. At least we can all look forward to temperatures warming up and skies clearing out for the weekend.
