Prep Athlete of Week: Boden Liljedahl
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Cheyenne East Girls Basketball Guard Boden Liljedahl is without question one of the best players in the state.
The junior was on the 2020-21 Lady T-Birds squad that won the 4A Girls Basketball State Championship, was a Girls Basketball 2021 All-State selection, a Prep Athlete of Watch for in 2021, and is now a Wyoming News Now Prep Athlete of the Week for a second time. The first time was on January 10, 2021.
“She’s a great kid, great shooter, [competive] as all get out, but also very appreciative,” said East Girls Basketball Head Coach Eric Westling. “I think she’s the first one to tell you that her teammates find her open, her teammates put her in positions to be successful so she can do her thing. So it’s really fun to watch her progress.”
Bo stands at 5′5 in shoes but she does not let that deter her.
“I can use my other advantages like I’m a really good shooter and I can dribble really well and I can also create for other people and [so I just try] to not focus on my height and [just act] as big as I can be,” said Boden Liljedahl.
Boden said her father worked hard with her growing up, especially on ball handling and shooting and Westling said he knew Bo would be a great player even before she got to high school because she was “knocking down our doors to get in the gym.”
Liljedahl becomes just the fourth student-athlete to be named Prep Athlete of the Week twice since the Fall of 2020. The others are Cheyenne Central Football player/wrestler Keagan Bartlett on October 25, 2021 and January 10, 2022, Cheyenne Central Swimmer Kira Brownell on October 26, 2020 and October 30, 2021, and former Cheyenne East football/basketball player Jake Rayl on October 12, 2020 and February 15, 2021.
Congratulations to Boden Liljedahl, 2x Wyoming News Now Prep Athlete of the Week.
