CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - With mostly clear skies around the state and warm temperatures, it is hard to believe that a winter storm is just a few days away. Well, it is just the calm before the storm. Tomorrow, clouds will begin moving in from the northwest blanketing much of the state, but temperatures are only going to get warmer. Out to the far western regions, highs will be above freezing for the first time in a while, and the eastern regions can see the low to mid 50s in the forecast. The increase in clouds is due to the incoming frontal systems bringing in their low pressure. There are also some models releasing snowfall estimates, most of which showing the central regions like Casper getting the most at about 2-3 inches and the rest of the state seeing about an inch or less. Luckily, this system is more of a quick cool down with some snow rather than the strong winter storm we saw last week.

Winds were on the stronger side today, especially in the southeastern regions causing a number of partial closures for high profile vehicles on I80 and I25. At least tomorrow the winds will be very minimal despite the fact that we have a stationary front and two low pressure systems coming in. Considering the wind was responsible for bringing in the warmer air, but also bringing down the wind chill values, temperatures will reach their max tomorrow before the front moves through. the clouds more than anything will provide some shade, but it’s not like 50 degrees is anything warm, just warm for this time of year.

Overnight tonight, temperatures are still staying on the warm side with cloud cover moving in. Tomorrow, mostly cloudy skies are to be expected with the warmest temperatures of the week. Winds will be calm and there is the slight chance for isolated showers in the northern most regions of the state. Overall, enjoy the warm weather because it’ll quickly drop when the system moves through on Friday.
