CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Hitching Post demolition is finally coming to a close.

The historical landmark will now be moving through the subsequent phases of new construction.

“We’re honored to be a part of this. Obviously, it’s a very historical site. We’re doing our very best to honor that and to bring a lot in the community. That is missing, such as you had mentioned residential housing. And a few of those other elements. And really make it as a communal space for the whole community to corroborate around and be a part of in the future.” said Robert Chamberlin, President of Swagger Construction.

Phase 2 will remove the old foundations, and phase 3 will start in 2 weeks. This phase will consist of re-grading the lot and running new public utilities and public roadways by the end of the month.

Swagger Construction will have the first set of businesses constructed by April of 2022, bringing restaurants, cafes, medical offices, hotels and more.

The entire opening of the business section is anticipated in the middle of 2023.

“We could see upwards of 50 to 60 apartments and condos on the site. Once again, that’s still evolving to see who the interested parties are and where those would be placed in this location,” said Chamberlin.

According to Chamberlin, the residential section is scheduled to be done around the end of 2023.
