Sports Year in Review: Cheyenne Central

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Cheyenne Central took home multiple state titles in 2021. They also had a Prep Athlete of the Year and were runners-up in several sports.

“You know, if you look back from over the course of this year, we’ve had a ton of success, and it’s something I’m really proud of and it’s one of the things that I really enjoy supporting all of our athletes,” said Cheyenne Central Athletic Director Chad Whitworth. “Obviously I think people want to talk about certain sports. But for me, it’s all of them and it’s the success that all of our athletes have that I’m most proud of.”

Winter 2020-2021:

Boys Basketball: State Champions

Girls Basketball: Qualified for State Tournament

Boys Swimming & Diving: Second Place at State Championships

Boys Indoor Track: Second Place at State Championships

Girls Indoor Track: Second Place at State Championships

Lawson Lovering: Prep Athlete of the Year

Spring 2021:

Girls Track & Field: State Champions

Softball: Qualified for State Tournament; Runner-Up

Girls Soccer: Qualified for State Tournament

Fall 2021:

Boys Cross Country: State Champions

Girls Cross Country: State Champions

Girls Swimming & Diving: Second Place at State Championships

Football: Qualified for State Playoffs
