CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Hogadon Basin Ski Area opened for night skiing on Dec. 31. This is the first time the ski area is offering night skiing.

“The vibe was super positive all night. The people glued blinking lights to their snowboards and people wore blinking lights on their parkas and hats, it was very nice. We gave away 25 free tickets, they went in seven minutes at the door at 3 p.m.,” said Hogadon Basin Ski Area Superintendent Chris Smith.

Night skiing will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Four runs are currently open for skiing and snowboarding, two more have opened since the season began on Dec. 22. The Hogadon is making snow as the weather allows to open more runs as quickly as possible.

The floodlights on the slopes have been a three-year-long project, and according to the Hogadon, there are no dark spots on the runs. The ski area took feedback from customers and is excited to offer and continue offering night skiing.

“We think it’s gonna be good. I think we’re close enough to Casper, a lot of people have bought the night skiing pass, so we’re very optimistic this is going to be a good thing for the ski area,” said Smith.

Night skiing passes can be added on to season passes or purchased individually. For more information visit the Hogadon Basin Ski Area website.
