CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Today’s weather is almost a carbon copy of what we saw yesterday. There are just a few differences, but that will indicate the changes we have coming up as we head into the holiday weekend. First off, there are more snow showers out to the western regions of the state. While this is typical for this time of year, the snow itself will be on the move towards the east meaning greater snow chances for New Year’s Eve. Clouds also began rolling across the state too, also indicative of the incoming winter storm on Friday. Tomorrow evening, we will see the snow moving out to the eastern regions but don’t expect to see any significant snowfall accumulation amounts until Friday starting in the late morning to early afternoon.

Even though the temperatures will be warming up, the winds from the cold front carrying the snow will pick up leaving much of the state with gusts getting over 50MPH. So the wind chills will probably be similar to what we saw today despite the higher temperatures. With winds expected to be that strong, there is a high probability that there will be a number of road delays and closures, especially with the incoming snow.

Overnight tonight, expect temperatures to be about the same as what we’ve seen over the last few days but with mostly cloudy skies and some gusts picking up. Tomorrow will be one of the first days in a while that temperatures east of I25 will get above freezing. Expect some slushy conditions and then some patchy ice as overnight tomorrow night will get below freezing once again. We are still tracking the snowfall amounts for Friday’s storm but models are still in disagreement. Stay tuned for updates.
