CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - While the temperatures around the state continue to drop as we get closer to the new year, the weather itself has certainly calmed down. After yesterdays scattered and isolated snow shower, there were very little if any seen across the state today. The most on our maps was just some cloud cover. The good news is that the weather should remain calm over the next couple of days with a slight warm up projected for this Thursday. It’ll be the one day that the snow will have a chance to melt as temperatures will get above the freezing point. It won’t be much help considering the next snow storm is expected to hit the state on New Years Eve. Snowfall estimates are still all over the place so I will be sure to keep you updated on those as we get closer.

Winds will stay calm tomorrow too as gusts are staying below 30 MPH with an exception of the Elk Mountain region. Thursday is a different story. I mentioned before that temperatures will be warming up by then, but the wind has different plans. Wind gusts on Thursday will be kicking up once again and will likely cause some road closures and delays with gusts projected over 40 MPH. Wind chills will get down even lower, so even though the temperature itself may be warmer, it may not feel like it.

Overnight tonight, temperatures will continue dropping with a number of places getting into the single digits and some into the negatives. Mostly cloudy skies are expected, but clearing up in the central and eastern regions by the morning. Tomorrow, temperatures will be at a very similar level and winds will be relatively calm. Just keep an eye out for updates regarding the next round of snow by the new year.
