Mobile home destroyed following Tuesday afternoon fire
CASPER, Wyo. (PRESS RELEASE) - At 12:27p.m., Casper Fire-EMS firefighters were dispatched to the 900 block of W. 10th Street for a reported structure fire. Several callers reported flames and smoke coming from a single-wide mobile home. Arriving units found the mobile home well involved in fire. Firefighters utilized several hose lines to attack the fire, and prevented the fire from spreading from the building of origin. A search of the structure confirmed that no persons were inside at the time of the fire. As of the time of this release, no injuries related to the fire had been reported.
A significant law enforcement presence was noted on the scene. For information on law enforcement activities on the scene, please refer to information from the respective agency PIO’s. Casper Fire-EMS extends gratitude to the responding Officers and Deputies for their assistance in securing the scene to allow fire suppression operations to commence.
Five units from Casper Fire-EMS responded, along with the on-duty Battalion Chief, and investigators. Crews were assisted on scene by officers from the Casper Police Department, an ambulance from Wyoming Medical Center, and technicians from both Rocky Mountain Power and Black Hills Energy. Dispatchers from the Public Safety Communications Center provided support through the duration of the incident. Due to extensive smoke and fire damage, and disconnection of all utilities, the residents of the home were displaced. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Casper Fire-EMS would like to take the opportunity to remind citizens to utilize extension cords safely during this holiday season. Extension cords should be used only temporarily – never as permanent wiring. Ensure that your extension cord is rated appropriately for the power needed, and that it is certified by an independent testing laboratory. Be sure to place your extension cord in a place free of debris, and ensure it is not obstructed by closing doors, windows, or tight corners.
