CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Hogadon Ski Area opened on Dec. 22 at 9 a.m. for the winter season. Due to warm weather, only one run, Boomerang, is open currently.

In acknowledgment of the late start, Hogadon has discounted day lift tickets to $32 until more runs can open. Even with only one run open, skiers and snowboarders showed up to get on the slope.

“It’s nice to finally get out and be able to get down a trail, at least one of them. I mean it sucks that we don’t have all of them open, but I mean one is better than none,” said snowboarder Easton Bowers.

The ski area will be open on Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hogadon will be closed on Christmas Day. It will be open daily from Dec. 26 to Sunday, Jan. 1.

Skiers and snowboarders alike are eager for more runs to open, but many are excited to have one running.

“No matter how many trails are open... still gonna go down. We still have a lot of season left,” said snowboarder Skylar Brown.

Depending on snow conditions, Hogadon plans to offer night skiing on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The ski area updates its website daily, so visitors can check hours and conditions before heading up the mountain.
