CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - For years, the Swansons have lit up Stafford with their home light show, but this year will be their last.

“We’ve done it because we like Christmas lights ourselves, but we also want to do it for the little kids,” said Tim Swanson.

He and his wife Vicki have seen and heard from children who have come to their light shows over the years. Some have even left cards and gifts to show their appreciation.

“That’s the biggest thing that we’ve gotten out of it is all the letters that have been given to us and the little gifts that have been dropped off,” said Tim.

The light show may be leaving the Swansons’ front yard, but they are passing off the music to a neighbor so that families can still find a light show in the Stafford area.

“We’re gonna give that to him and show him how it all works, and I think it’ll be as good if not better than what we’ve done even,” said Tim.

Christmas yard decorations that their children don’t want will be given away or sold, next year the family will have almost no decorations in their yard.

Originally the couple planned to end the light show last year but kept it an extra year after hearing that a couple got engaged during a show.

They are appreciative of the support the community has given them over the years, and hope they have made positive memories for children and families in Casper.

“We sit in his office and we watch the people watching this and it literally bring tears to our eyes to watch what’s going on,” said Vicki.

When the show ends at 11 p.m. on Dec. 26, the Swansons will turn off the lights for good. Until then the show can be seen at 1101 Stafford.
