Meals on Wheels Cheyenne prepares 250 Christmas meals for clients
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Following a successful run of delivering Thanksgiving food, Meals on Wheels has decided to bring their holiday platters back for Christmas.
“We just wanna make sure that our clients have a holiday meal, especially so many that don’t have family nearby, so that they can know someone’s out there thinking about them,” said Cheyenne Meals on Wheels Executive Director Stephanie Freeman.
Wyoming Relay sponsored the Christmas preparation, and had representatives at the meals on wheels building to assist with preparation.
Yesterday, they spent most of their day preparing the meals. Today, they packaged them up and got them ready to go.
They’ve made around 250 meals for Christmas, but that number jumps up to 800 when you include the frozen meals that are set to be sent out. They will deliver their festive food tomorrow to their customers.
After the messages they received following their thanksgiving plates, it made the decision easy to continue the trend for the holidays.
“We got lots of calls from our clients just so thankful that they could have that thanksgiving meal, so we’re really excited to be able to just keep it going,” said Freeman.
Meals on Wheels plans to give out new year’s meals to their clients, as well as making this a tradition for the holidays.
