CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Wreaths Across America delivered 4,200 wreaths to Natrona County. The wreaths will be placed on veteran headstones at three cemeteries. This is the fourth year Wreaths Across America has been in Natrona County.

“It’s such a great honor to honor our veterans, we don’t get to do that so very often and they don’t get the credit that they deserve, and we’re totally into honoring our veterans,” said Wreaths Across America Coordinator Victoria Lockard.

Wreaths Across America became a non-profit organization in 2005 after a photo of the annual tribute at Arlington increased national interest in laying wreaths at veterans’ graves for the holidays.

Despite the snow, firefighters, police officers, veterans, and others volunteered to help receive the wreaths. Boxes filled with wreaths were taken off the truck and placed around the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery in preparation for the official wreath-laying ceremony on Dec. 18.

“A lot of them are veterans themselves and they always are able to help us out with unloading and doing the ceremony for us,” said Lockard.

The wreath-laying ceremonies will take place on Saturday. Starting at 10 a.m. at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery then moving to the Highland Cemetery at one before a final ceremony at Memorial Garden at 1:30 p.m. Those attending the ceremonies are encouraged to be at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetary by 9:30 a.m.
