Another Cold Front
14 December 2021
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - After seeing temperatures warming back up to near record levels after the last cold front came and left, another one is expected to move through tomorrow bringing us back down to seasonable levels with another round of snow too. Some areas, of course, are expecting more snow than others because the front is coming in from the west. That means that the mountain ranges, especially on the eastern side of the state, will block some of the snow from reaching certain cities. The snow that we do see is going to begin overnight tonight in the far western regions in the high elevations. By the early morning, the rest of the state will begin to see snow showers. Going into the afternoon hours, not much remains after that. This front will bring very short-lived snow showers, but lasting cold temperatures.
The areas that are not expected to see much if any snow, the southeast, can expect to see wind gusts getting up to 60 MPH by the afternoon. This is certainly enough to cause road closures and delays without any of the snow. You may want to weigh down any loose items on your porch and limit time outside and driving due to these strong winds blowing around debris.
Tonight, temperatures are going to be above average, much like we have seen over the past few days. Clouds will begin increasing from the west as the cold front moves through. Tomorrow, just like with most cold front this season, highs will take place in the early parts of the day and not be much different from the lows. Temperatures will continue dropping going into the later parts of the day with snow showers early and windy conditions by the afternoon and evening. More seasonable conditions actually look to be sticking around a little bit longer this time.
