Natrona County girls, Kelly Walsh boys win crosstown rivalry games
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - In the final two contests of the Oil City Tip-off, Natrona County and Kelly Walsh’s boys and girls basketball teams squared off inside Jerry Dalton Gymnasium at Natrona County High School.
The girl’s game got the show started. The Fillies were off to a 2-0 start heading into the game, and the Lady Trojans had split their first two.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair with both teams trading buckets. Natrona County’s Emma Patik delivered the scoring punch for the Fillies in the first half with 13 of her team’s 33 into the break.
Natrona County led 33-28 going into the half, and they’d carry that lead throughout. They end up taking round one against Kelly Walsh by a final score of 61-52.
Patik led all scorers with 21 points, and Megan Hagar also chipped in 14 points for the Fillies. Tamryn Blom chipped in seven points, including a momentum-swinging steal and score in the second half.
For Kelly Walsh, Logann Alvar finished with 15 points, and Peyton Carruth added 11 points and some great passing.
The boy’s game finished up the tournament slate. Kelly Walsh raced out to an early lead, and they never looked back. The Trojans finished the weekend 3-0 with a 55-43 victory over the Mustangs.
Tyler Pacheco was on absolute fire for the green and white. He was knocking down shots from deep and set up his teammates, too.
Davis Parker finished with 12 points for the Mustangs, which capped a solid weekend for him.
All four teams will be in action again next weekend in tournaments on the road.
