CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Starting off the day on the warmer side as the front moved through by around our lunch hour. Because of that, warmer temperatures were seen in the earlier parts of the day and then continually cooling heading toward the evening. Snow started out in the southern most regions of the state near the border by around sunrise and slowly moved out to the east affecting much of the southeastern region by lunch time. Not until the afternoon did the snow move towards the northern and central regions. Much of the snow ended up sticking only in higher elevations and mountainous regions. In the capital city, we saw the snow get gradually larger, but nothing stuck because temperatures were still above freezing. Overnight tonight, we can expect snow to continue with heavy conditions in the far eastern and mountainous areas. Because of heavy snow and limited visibility, a number of road closures are prevalent.

The good news is that the winds have been calm today. Granted, even the slightest wind with these temperatures can make it feel colder outside. Although, the winds are expected to pick up tomorrow after all the snow has fallen and accumulated. If the roads are closed today due to the snow, tomorrow they will likely be closed too from the winds blowing around all that snow.

Tonight, temperatures will drop off into the 10s and 20s with snow moving out to the northeast. Tomorrow, any snow remaining from the front will fall in the early morning before clearing out by the afternoon. Clouds will begin to dissipate and winds will pick up. If you aren’t a fan of the snow and cooler temperatures, it’ll warm right back up into the upper 40s and lower 50s by early next week around Sunday and Monday.
