CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Wyoming State Forestry Division is selling Christmas tree permits in the State Trust Land Offices for the season.

“The snowy range and Sierra Madre range, west of Laramie they have very good Christmas tree selection, even after the Mullen fire. However that’s all on U.S. Forest Service land and not on State land,” said Josh Van Vlack, Wyoming Assistant State Forester, WSFD.

You can buy those permits at any State Forestry office in Casper, Laramie, Limon, Cheyenne and more.

Permits cost 10 dollars, which is eligible only on any state trust land.

The U.S. Forest Services also sells Christmas tree permits from their offices and online.

Transplant trees and firewood permits are available and require a different license at these same locations.

“The Christmas tree permits are a great way for folks to go out, cut their own Christmas tree and bring a part of that Wyoming wilderness into their home. There’s nothing quite like a natural tree. We do encourage folks to purchase the correct permits to do so and enjoy that part of Wyoming,” said Vlack.

There are over 100 to 200 commercial Christmas tree permits, also sold this time of year, to private contractors.
