CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Science Zone was approved to become an AmeriCorps organization in the spring of 2021. They are seeking members to work with them on different science education opportunities.

“What we hope to do is just expand the amount of science that we can infuse within our community whether that means having more opportunities to go into schools and do field trips or opportunities for more families to come here,” said Education Specialist Colleen Burridge.

Members can work between 300 and 1200 hours a year depending on their availability. There are opportunities to work with the Science Zone year-round, and they hope to get at least ten members to help with outdoor summer activities for children.

The Science Zone encourages anyone interested in working with AmeriCorps to come in to chat and see if the opportunities available are a good fit.

“There are a multitude of opportunities here in Wyoming and there are several opportunities in Casper as well our focus is science education but we are certainly not the only game in town,” said Burridge.

Anyone can sign up to work with AmeriCorps online.
