Wyoming Rescue Mission hosts annual Thanksgiving meal
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Wyoming Rescue Mission guests feasted on turkey and all the fixings at their annual community meal.
Jadie Yoak, a Wyoming Rescue Mission guest and a new member of the Discipleship Recovery Program, said this meal is the beginning of a fresh start. “Slowing down is difficult, to put it bluntly. I will stay busy and in the program and work on myself,” Yoak said.
This Thanksgiving, she’s grateful to share this meal with others. “The fellowship was great,” Yoak said.
The packed dining room is suspected to stay that way with the thick of winter approaching. Between October and November this year, WRM is seeing a 43 percent increase of adults seeking hot meals and a 36 percent increase in adults seeking mercy services. Jenny Stedillie, the WRM marketing, and events coordinator said they don’t know how high these numbers will get. “We certainly don’t anticipate them going down,” Stedillie said.
It’s rewarding for all staff to be able to provide a place for people to have a hot meal and give thanks. “It’s a blessing to provide this to them because otherwise where would they go,” Stedillie said.
